This week, Focus Earth looks at Detroit automakers, which cut jobs and closed plants despite gas prices continuing to fall across the country. Then, Focus Earth follows President Barack Obama to Canada and Hillary Clinton to China where she will discuss approaches to reducing emissions. Finally, Focus Earth looks at a man who is using the heat of the sun to cool homes.

First, Focus Earth takes a look at the ailing auto industry in Detroit. This week, major automakers cut jobs and announced plant closures. They also asked congress for billions in loans for the development of new hybrid technologies. This news comes in spite of continued drops in gas prices around the country. Focus Earth shows that the new prices may not be as low as they seem.

President Barack Obama paid a visit to Canada this week to discuss joint efforts to confront economic and climate problems. Jake Tapper reports on the visit.

Whith the president in Canada, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton flew to China, arriving in the country on the anniversary of Richard Nixon's historic first visit. Greeted by man-made snow, Clinton joined talks focused on developing a strategy for combating climate change. John Delury of the Asia Society gives an analysis of the talks and provides background on the diplomatic challenges the United States faces with China.

Finally, Bill Weir follows a man whose solar-powered fans are using the heat of the sun to cool homes.
