This week, Focus Earth takes a look at the latest developments in Washington, including an analysis of the economic stimulus bill, remarks from the Interior Department, and a halt on offshore drilling, before looking overseas to the damage caused by wildfires in Australia. Then, Focus Earth features an interview with Congressman Ed Markey, a look at the status of the gray wolf, and a special report on the state of the world's chocolate supply.

First, Bob Woodruff reports from Washington, DC, where lawmakers have reached a compromise on an economic stimulus package, which is expected to be passed through the Senate this weekend. Barack Obama toured the U.S. to promote the deal, but had some trouble giving a detailed explanation of how the stimulus money would be spent. Meanwhile, Michelle Obama made a visit to the Interior Department to promote the package and take a look at how the agency is progressing with reforms.

Newly appointed secretary of the interior Ken Salazar began work this week called for a halt on a Bush Administration decision to expand offshore drilling. He said that an emphasis should instead be placed on developing an offshore wind infrastructure and promoting other renewable energy sources.

Then, Miguel Marquez reports from Australia where wildfires have raged across the country and have caused as many as 100 deaths. Some scientists have suggest that climate change may have been a contributing factor to the fires. Focus Earth gives an analysis.

With both houses of Congress working to decide the details of a stimulus package, many worry that provisions for green industries and alternative energy sources may be overlooked. Focus Earth talks with Congressman Ed Markey who is fighting to keep these important issues on the agenda.

Then Chris Bury reports from Idaho, where efforts to protect the gray wolf are still underway and Lama Hasan looks at a world without chocolate.
