This year's Detroit Auto Show opens on a more somber note: with ticket sales down and the industry facing serious economic troubles. Still, many environmentalists are looking to the event with excitement, anticipating a showcase of the new hybrid and high-efficiency vehicles many think will be necessary for auto manufacturers to keep pace with changing consumer demand.
