By engaging children in the appreciation of our environment, former NFL-star Tiki Barber is pursuing two important goals: to advance wildlife conservation and to encourage kids to see the world in a way that will inspire them to build a better planet.

Barber lives with his family in New York City. As he raises two kids in the “concrete jungle," Barber cherishes the zoos in New York as a private sanctuary that provides a timeout for him and his family. Created by the Wildlife Conservation Society, the zoos offer a unique opportunity for children to experience the beauty of our natural world, and to learn about saving wildlife and their habitats.

In 2009, Barber partnered with the Society in an annual benefit race to promote awareness about endangered species worldwide. The “Run For the Wild” not only raises funds for the protection of wildlife, but also engages kids to participate in the creation of a healthier future for our planet.

More About Tiki

Tiki Barber is a sports broadcaster, author, and former American football running back for the New York Giants. In his NFL career, Tiki became a standout starting running back and the all-time leader in rushing yards in New York Giants history. In his illustrious 10-year playing career, Barber set virtually every career offensive record for the Giants, while being voted to three NFL Pro Bowls.

While still an NFL player, Tiki began his broadcasting career as a correspondent for the Fox Network. After retiring from the NFL at the end of 2006, Tiki became a full-time television broadcaster. In his multi-faceted role for NBC, he contributes to the popular Today program as a correspondent, covering Football Night in America/Sunday Night Football, and hosting entertainment events for NBC Universal.

Tiki also has been a community and environmental activist, lending his time to many charitable causes, most notably his own foundation TikiRecreation which seeks to improve the health and well-being of children. Most recently, Tiki has partnered with the Wildlife Conservation Society in their annual benefit race at the Bronx Zoo in New York to raise awareness about the Society’s global efforts to conserve and protect wildlife and their habitat.
