Emeril Green Episode: Stovetop Supper

People rely on their ovens for the majority of their cooking, but it's amazing what you can make outside of the oven. If you want to learn to saute, fry, sear or poach you have to let the stove do the work for you.

Tarik relies on the oven or microwave to cook his meals but he'd love to learn how to use the stovetop and break up his normal routine. Chef Emeril is showing him several methods of cooking including poaching, saut?ing, sauce making and even flash frying—all without using Tarik's trusty oven.

Emeril's Green Kitchen Tips:

  • Instead of preheating your oven for a quick meal, opt for the stovetop. It's faster and more energy efficient.

  • Reheat items like soup on the stovetop. Though a microwave may seem faster,
    soups don't heat evenly so you end up having to cook it longer than you would
    have to on the stove.
