A smaller home means a smaller footprint on the earth. But what if your tiny dwelling is on wheels as well?
Kathy and her husband live in their RV. She needs help cooking with limited space. She has a small fridge, can't purchase massive quantities of food, and has limited water and power supply. Emeril will help her with one pot, energy saving dishes like Crock Pot Sausage and Peppers and Glazed Ham with Sweet Potatoes. His Oven Braised Chicken With Potatoes And Veggies gets recycled into Noodles With Broccoli And White Beans and easy Chicken Tortellini in Broth with Spinach.
- Emeril's Energy Saving Tips:
- Make one-pot meals such as stir-fries, stews and crock pot dinners which save energy and washing-up.
- Put a lid on it…covering your pots and pans while cooking can save energy.
- Match the pot size to the element you’re cooking on…small pots on large burners is a waste of energy.
- Only boil the amount of water you need for the job, as this will help prevent you from wasting the unused water.
- Find more than one use for cooking equipment, because you won’t have space for every
little kitchen gadget.
- Use a wine bottle for a rolling pin
- Use a cheese grater to grate garlic or strain citrus juice
- Use a potato masher for breaking up ground beef or mashing eggs for egg salad
- Use a ketchup bottle as a pancake batter dispenser
- Instead of a Panini maker, use another pan and a can to weigh down your sandwich
