With so much talk of carbon footprints and global warming, it sometimes feels like our planet is doomed. In fact, it is predicted that 75% of our population will live in urban centers within this century. Predictions are that these city-dwelling citizens will consume water and energy resources at a massive rate, triggering a deep, heavy carbon footprint. But there is hope for our future. Hope may lie in science, and an innovative green blueprint for a city of the future. In Ecopolis, Nobel Prize-winning scientist Dr. Daniel Kammen, tests new technologies that may impact environmental circumstances of a future mega-city.

Each episode of this six-part series examines a different set of mega-city problems along with the visionary solutions that may solve them. Dr. Kammen explores innovative technologies that solve problems like limited resources, dependency on oil for transportation, energy efficiency and managing waste.
