Climate change, global warming, pollution, diminishing resources, and any number of other environmental problems threaten our economy, indeed, our future. Generations of irresponsible business practices are, at least in part, to blame for our current situation but business, and entrepreneurial innovation, may be able to solve many of our problems.

I?ve always pined for the cool, energy-reflecting white-washed roofs and buildings infamous on the Greek isles like Santorini and Mykonos. So when news broke yesterday that the Obama administration wants to paint U.S. roofs all white, I was all ears.

Sometimes climate change just seems like an abstraction—like some environmental doomsday scenario whose consequences lurk far in the future. Of course, global warming has begun to effect ecosystems and weather patterns—and entire human communities—across the globe already.

The easiest and ideal means of curbing climate change and global warming is reducing global carbon emissions. Though earlier efforts like the Kyoto Protocol failed to gain unanimous support, there is an increasingly urgent call from leaders and nations around the world to take unified action. This is, without a doubt, promising. But what if it's too late? What if we miss, or have already missed, our chance to halt the warming of the planet? Is there anything else that could be done?

There?s a lot of greening going on in Greensburg?there are green new building techniques, a brand new green attitude, and the use of renewable energy sources. So what are renewable energy sources? It's pretty self explanatory, really?they're ways of generating power that don?t usurp the earth?s resources and instead draw from sources that can be replenished and reused.

Regenerative braking is a mechanism that reduces vehicle speed by converting some of its kinetic energy into another useful form of energy. This captured energy is then stored for future use or fed back into a power system for use by other vehicles. It is estimated that on hybrid electric vehicles one can save 10 to 25%.

Okay, so the stimulus has a crap-ton of green projects in it. You know that, you get it. There's solar and wind projects, waste management, there are going to be green jobs, blah, blah, blah. All of these are undoubtedly great things, but you've probably read the phrase "green jobs" more than Steven Seagal has kicked ass. And that's a lot.
