Though the color green will always hold a steady first place in our greenest of hearts, Planet Green pronounces blue is the new black—at least momentarily.

We’ll be shining the eco-spotlight on our big blue marble’s big blue oceans and seas, celebrating the salty waters’ jaw-dropping majesty and posing a critical eye on current aquatic issues throughout the month of August.

Both online and on-air you’ll be able to jump in and splash around our plethora of rich, exciting and informative content. Here’s what’s in store:

Blue August On-Air

On Planet Green, the channel, you’ll find everything from:

World-renowned conservationists and explorers like Philippe and Alexandra Cousteau hosting short-form content and entertaining segments.

Edge-of-your-seat programming like the network premiere and award-winning Blue Planet series.

The world premiere of an original documentary from the Natural Resources Defense Council called Acid Test: The Global Challenge of Ocean Acidification, featuring Sigourney Weaver.

A special oceans-themed episode of Focus Earth with Bob Woodruff.

Blue August Online

Right here on PlanetGreen.com, take your time wading through upcoming and out-of-this-world sea-centric slideshows, view and votes, beach tips, volunteer activities, buy guides and tons more!

And for those seeking a deeper shade of blue, TreeHugger.com deep sea dives into a comprehensive look at the latest in ocean politics, news and up and coming technologies. There you’ll find exclusive interviews with leading experts, scientists and green leaders who rest on the forefront of water awareness.

Blue August Action

Of course since we can’t merely know without doing, here around Planet Green, our special Blue August partners including the Natural Resources Defense CouncilOcean ConservancyOceana and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) will help present take-action solutions so we can all get involved in ocean protection in a profound and meaningful way.

Find in-depth ocean conservation information on the NRDC web site and don't miss behind the scenes commentary from Daniel Hinerfeld.
