Features of the House:

Certification:

  • US Green Building Council LEED "Platinum" Home Candidate – Highest rating in the world for a green home.

Flooring/Carpeting:

  • Reclaimed hardwood flooring from Carlisle Floors in Beverly Hills
  • Reclaimed Jerusalem stone floor in the master bathroom that is over 200 years old which is an Ann Sacks exclusive
  • In the movie theater the carpet is made of 100% post consumer water bottles from Mohawk Carpets.

Bath:

  • All tile in baths and pool area have 87% recycled content from Ann Sacks
  • No Cement board was used. All baths were floated concrete for long lasting durability
  • Master bathroom bath tub is a one of a kind hand carved piece of terra cotta.
  • All toilets are low flow from Kohler
  • All faucets and showers are low flow from Kohler

Walls/Structure:

  • The walls all have "paperless Drywall" to eliminate any future mold issues
  • Reclaimed (300 yr) Spanish roof tiles
  • All lumber for framing of the house was FSC Forrest Stewardship Council. Meaning that all the wood came from managed forests.
  • All concrete in the house and lot has a 30% fly ash content, which is a byproduct of the coal industry and traditionally goes into landfill. When added to concrete, it makes the concrete harder and more durable.
  • The home has the most cutting edge closed cell spray foam insulation. This product is made by the Bayer Aspirin Corp. and in 65% better than California building code requires.
  • Reclaimed Spanish cement tiles were used as risers on the staircases throughout the home. Supplied by Exquisite Surfaces Beverly Hills.
  • All paint in the home is Eco Trend and is zero off gassing.
  • The house was wrapped in DuPont Tyvek™ for a long lasting waterproof structure with a 20yr warrantee.
  • The interior walls in the home are covered in a product called American Clay. This is a clay product that is mixed on site and applied to the walls. The color is mixed in and eliminates the need for paint. The resulting finish resembles old world plaster. Earth Plasters are non-dusting, mold and fade resistant, repairable and moisture controlling.
  • The windows and doors in the home are ultra efficient dual glazing with aluminum cladding for a maintenance free product
  • The exterior stucco is a product called Eco Stucco. It is a natural lime plaster.
