By Boise Thomas

Hello and welcome to my blog on Planet Green!

If you haven’t seen the show, let me introduce myself… I am Boise Thomas and play myself on AlterEco, Monday Nights at 9pm on the Planet Green Network.  Our show is a romp through Southern California looking for green solutions while we use LA’s first luxury green home as our HeadQuarters.  There are plenty of characters on this show that is shot as a docu-series and features the shows’ creator, Adrian Grenier who also plays himself.  Rick Byrd of Byrd LA Home Builders is Adrian’s friend and the series starts with Adrian and Rick meeting up at a home in the Hollywood Hills.  Over the course of the 13-part series, you will see the transformation of this 1920’s Spanish-style house into an eco-mansion that will have state-of-the-art features and require minimal energy and dependence on the municipal city systems.  I am really excited to be a part of the team Adrian assembled.  My partners are Angela Lindvall and Darren Moore.

Angela is one of a kind.  Not only has she been a supermodel for the past 12 years, globe-trotting the planet and being witness the impact mankind has had on our big blue marble but she started her own non-profit, “Collage” in 2000 and while the intention of her creation is being fulfilled in the world, it is just amazing to be working with someone who saw something almost a decade ago that is finally coming into reality.  She has been a pleasure to work with, is hilarious, down-to-earth and also happens to be easy on the eyes.

Darren is the Eco-MaGuyver.  No kidding. This dude can take a pile of scrap and assemble it into something that has form and function, purpose and design to make your life greener and more earth-friendly.  I have learned so much from him including but not limited to my lack of desire to work hard digging, jack-hammering, nailing, screwing, sawing, sanding and building things that he can do with his eyes closed.  And that is how he designs.  He looks at what he has, takes a few moments and then goes to town.  His company Ecovations is the only one of it’s kind in LA and makes him the man with the plan whenever we have a mission to fulfill upon.

So those are the players.  The mission is kind of like a Charlie’s Angels meets Entourage/Dinner for 5/Home Makeover/Jackass in that we all play a part in this fly by the seat of our pants program of greening anything that can’t out run us.  While each show features a different theme, we make it happen with the help of people we meet along the way.

My intention for this blogspace on Planet Green dot com, is for you to have a place to come and get what you need from watching the show.  If you have a question about an episode, if there was information covered or if there was something like a tip or suggestion, you can find it here without question.

I look forward to interacting with you on the Forums and having you visit the site.  You can subscribe to an RSS feed and I will notify you when I post something or just come back after the show airs and we’ll have the skinny waiting for you.

In the meantime, don’t wait for the next episode of AlterEco to go make changes in your life!  The next time you are forced to buy something or you need to replenish something you currently are running out of, get educated and find out what the alternatives are for your purchase.  You can almost get a green substitute for anything now and seeing as the Earth is on loan from our next generation… I highly recommend spending the extra cents to give it to them better than we found it.

Thank for watching AlterEco, for visiting the Boise Thomas/AlterEco blog and for making a difference wherever you are in whatever you do.  And remember…

“The Planet doesn’t need saving.  It will be fine… been here for 4.6 billion years.  Save yourself from your habits, behaviors and choices and we’ll hand the Earth to our kids better than the way we found it.”

The planet has all the time in the world.
