Man, I will tell you something. Vinegar has to be in the running for one the most useful items in the world. Fire is probably the most useful thing as it is the basis of society. I'd say language comes in a close second. (How cold you are VS. How much you need to communicate how cold you are.) Water and trees are probably the next two items on this absurd list, but vinegar is definitely in the top 100.
It's so useful you can take vinegar on a trip with you and it will help you. It's like a potion that a hobbit might carry to scare off wraiths or skeletons with axes. Here are some vinegar travel tips.
- Tent Cleaner
You can clean mildew off tents with vinegar. - Scaling Fish
Vinegar also makes scaling a fish easier. Just rub it with vinegar before you make it food. - Mosquito Repellent
Legend has it, that if you drink a spoonful of vinegar a day, mosquitoes will stay clear of you. I wouldn't trust my health to this in malaria-infested areas. You're better off with mosquito netting and proper repellent. But drinking vinegar won't hurt either. - A soothing balm
Apply vinegar to poison ivy rash, a bee's sting, a blister or a jellyfish sting to soothe the pain. - Add life to your wicks
Soak propane wicks in vinegar to make them last longer. - Skunked!
Get sprayed by a skunk? Vinegar can help you get rid of the smell. (But not the memory. You'll want a strong glass of scotch for that.)
