As much as I'd love to spend this entire post gloating about the New York Yankees winning championship #27 in 2009, I promise I won't. (I'll also do my best to avoid all Green Monster double entendres.)
For many of us, winter requires some lifestyle changes, for example:
- Choosing public transportation over biking
- Running on a treadmill instead of on an outdoor track or trail
- Heavy clothes that conveniently hide any holiday weight gain
Therefore, making the smooth transition to warm weather greenness can require an eco-spring training of sorts. Just as pitchers and catchers arrive at pre-season team complexes, you can get the jump on spring through preparation and hard work.

- Get your bike in shape: If your beloved two-wheeler has been collecting dust for months, be sure to get a basic tune-up before your start post-winter riding.
- Stop by the community garden: Nothing represents spring more than budding plants and flowers. Get a jump on the season by signing up at your local community garden now.
- Go vegan: With the warmer weather comes more revealing attire. To get lean while staying green, nothing beats a plant-based diet.
