If little Bobby or Jane (or maybe even big, grown-up you) shares an affinity for the children’s book Polar Express, polar bears and the northernmost/southernmost points on Earth—get a good cultural dose of all-things-polar at the American Museum of Natural History this weekend (February 7 and 8, 2009).
The free (with museum entry) family event includes performances by Inuit throat singers, short lectures, film clips and an interactive Polar Fair featuring scientists, artists and educators who have worked at one or both poles.
Kids will love the chance to check out adventurous polar gear and expedition clothing up close. And parents will love the multimedia presentation on climate change and other polar topics from Richard Alley, a climate researcher and field scientist, and Andy Revkin of the New York Times.
Now that’s what we call an eco-friendly and fun-filled family weekend.
