Being an insect is a usually bad thing. I've never heard of someone being called an insect in a good way. In the Nineties, people were calling things "fly," but I’m pretty sure they were referring to the verb. This is where etymology meets entomology.
Being called a roach, a bloodsucking mosquito, a tick, a stink beetle or a louse is an insult. (Some of these creatures are not technically insects. I know.) But bees are busy and some karate guys call their students grasshoppers, and that's about complementary as it gets. There is one bug that stands out as being the most awful, however, and that’s the litterbug.
My father once told me that littering is like dumping waste in your own bed. He was right. The earth is our home and it should be treated as such. Don't litter and don’t let those around you litter. If your roommate tried to throw trash on the couch, I'm sure that you’d have a few choice words to say. So what’s the difference between your couch and your park?
