The famous Victorian gem on Chicago's stretching field of green, the Lincoln Park Zoo has decided to go green. Park lovers have traded in their sideburns and peace medallions for a more cultured take on equality for all. Things have changed a tad since the Yippee Conspiritors clashed with the original Mayor Daly's police in the 1968 Convention in that self-same park. (I literally was there, for a picnic and my 5th birthday party at the time it errupted--I know--I sound like Forest Gump...) Anyway, no teargas today, rather, the obligatory steamed dog with relish has been replaced with "all organic and locally-grown foods. It's among the first concession stands to go all organic. According to a report in today's Associated Press, "The menu includes paninis with smoked mozzarella and organic tomatoes, salads with organic baby greens and organic potato salad. For kids, there are with turkey dogs with fresh fruit and baby carrots."

Who say's it's the Second City? Uh uh...that's Chicago, my kinda town!
