People today are busy. You're busy. I'm busy. Making time to work out can certainly be difficult. In addition to that, working out while being sensible toward the environment is definitely more difficult. However, there are little things that you can do everyday that will help you burn calories and help the environment.
- Park far away. If you park at the back of the parking lot when you enter a store parking lot, you'll save the gas and time you would have spent driving around looking for a space closer to the store. In addition to that, you'll burn extra calories during the longer walk.
- Take the stairs. Escalators and Elevators require energy, just like all other machines. Reduce your use of this energy by taking the stairs and you'll burn some extra calories while you're at it.
- Turn off the TV during commercial breaks and do something. Just for a few minutes, during the commercial break, turn off the TV and get up and do something. Take out the trash, wash the dishes... whatever. You'll burn calories and save on your energy bill.
- Take the bus and stand. Instead of driving, try taking the bus for long distances and standing up. You'll save money and burn calories.
- Ride a bike for short distances. Bike riding is a great way to burn calories without using any gasoline!
- If you have kids, don't just watch them as they play video games or stare at the TV screen. Instead, take them outside and do something active! You'll save on your energy bill and burn extra calories.
- Walk your dog instead of letting him or her out to roam. You never know what kind of nasty stuff your dog might get into outside and part of being green is keeping your pets as healthy as possible. So why not go for a walk with your dog? It's a great way to stay green and burn calories.
