ABC News gets tips on traveling in green style from Planet Green Editor Meaghan O'Neill:

1. If you have to fly, book direct: Because taking off and landing requires a tremendous amount of fuel, flying direct is eco-friendlier than making stop-overs.

2. Unplug the wall-warts before you leave: Many appliances and electronics, even while on standby, still use a huge amount of so-called vampire energy.

3. Travel light: This will make it easier to take public transportation and get around.

4. Keep up the good work: "Don't check your green habits when you check in," the article notes. Just because you might be staying in a hotel, you still need to remember to turn off the lights when you leave the room, turn off the air conditioning, and not waste food. ::ABC News
