Thanks to a new launch from Google Earth, you can dive into the deep blue with scientists of the highest caliber, learning from them without making nearly the environmental splash you might otherwise make. Just released is a Google Earth tour by the Pew Environment Group to introduce the 2010 Pew Fellows in Marine Conservation that guides you through underwater ecosystems, coral reefs, and shores across the globe as it explains the research goals of five new Fellows who will be exploring our seas over the next three years in an effort to learn how to save them.
Isabella Rossellini - famous for many things but in these parts most famous for her Insect Porn videos - is the narrator, and the tour introduces you to the less famous Pew Marine Fellows, including Daniel J. Conley, Omar Defeo, Beth Fulton, Peter Mumby, and Ben Sullivan.
You'll learn exactly how these scientists will use their Fellowships to explore the oceans and make an impact in marine activism. Check out the fascinating work they're doing and some of the ubiquitous and surprising issues they're addressing in this short, interesting tour.
After watching the tour, there are a whole lot of other videos you can enjoy to find out more about the current condition of our oceans and what we can do to improve them. Try out:
