Handy with an axe? Got some spare wood lying around? Looking for that perfect spoon to sip a soup fit for the gods? Well, do as the Vikings and make yourself a one-of-a-kind wooden spoon that'd make Thor proud.

In a recent article, Instructables demonstrates how to make a wooden spoon the Viking way, and it's a fine project that'll help spice up your cooking and dining utensil arsenal. In ten steps, you can turn a log into a perfectly rugged spoon—but it'll take some elbow grease.

First, you better make sure that you have an adequate selection of tools—including a hammer, a wedge, an axe, and something called a spoon knife. You're going to be working old school for this spoon, so get ready to tap into your inner lumberjack.

From here, it's a matter of hacking and shaping—consult the guide for more detailed instructions on creating your very own rustic wooden spoon. You'll be sipping leek soup like Loki in no time.
