You may have heard of the Bering Sea—you know it's up north over there by that Bering Strait thing you learned about in grade school. And guess what?—like many things that far up north (and down south), its icy terrain is melting earlier and earlier every year. Soon, scientists predict the ice will disappear for good. Know why? Three guesses. No, it's not Stanley, the begrudged out of work fishermen taking a blowtorch to it, one square foot at a time. Next guess?

That's correct. It's climate change, and it's putting the entire region under a lot of stress—animals are losing their habitats, natives are losing their work and food supply, and bad news abound for the area in general. Climate change is causing warming temperatures, which drastically alters the ecosystems for all the fauna involved—going as far as causing giant glaciers to dislodge from long stable ice shelves.

But I won't spoil the suspense by going into any further detail (I probably couldn't even if I tried), because you can find out exactly what conditions are like firsthand, by signing up and listening in on the free webinar given by Chris Linder, live from the Bering sea. Live Books is presenting the event, and Linder, who's an acclaimed photographer is going to discuss what exactly is happening to one of the most recognizable regions in the world.

The event takes place this Tuesday, May 5th at 11 am PST, 2pm EST—for more details head over to Live Books.
