If you've taken up cycling as a means of getting around town, you may have noticed that carrying your cargo can be an ordeal, especially in damp autumn and winter weather. You might have also noticed that high quality, durable bike baskets can be really pricey. But for just $20, you can create cargo baskets that will keep your cargo dry in the rain, and safe if you happen to tip over.

Instructibles member Beekins shows us step-by-step how to make the baskets from scratch. You'll need square buckets, a couple bike inner tubes, shelf brackets, S hooks, and a few household tools. The project itself takes hardly any time at all to finish!
While you could buy the supplies from a hardware store for under $20, you could also find most of this by checking out Freecycle or Craigslist. If nothing is listed, put up a "Wanted" post. You'll likely be able to complete the project without spending a dime.
