Copeland Casati (Green Modern Kits)

For a relative newbie to solar cooking, it seems my post on How to Use a Solar Cooker has definitely garnered some attention. In fact, reader Copeland Casati, part of the team behind Green Modern Kits prefab homes, liked our thinking so much that she wrote in to alert us to her own experiments with solar cookers. Her blog includes some interesting thoughts on why solar cooking is not more popular—including the observation that it's way easier for us telecommuters than the rest of the population. We can take 5 minutes out of our day to adjust the position of the cooker—not so those who are stuck at the office. (Of course we can also make contingency plans if a raincloud appears!)
Copeland also included a super simple looking recipe, which I'll reproduce with her permission. It is, essentially, pork chops, garlic, a good handful of grapes, and some balsamic vinegar - placed in a pan, and then slow cooked in the solar oven. Served with a side of solar cooked potatoes, Copeland assures us this was a winner. It certainly illustrates how simple a solar cooked meal can be!
Copeland's MySpace page includes a whole gallery of solar cooking, including one shot which single handedly disproves the myth that you can't burn food in a solar cooker. Thanks for laying that one to rest Copeland!
