The process of prefabrication came into its own during the 1950's. It came fast and hard like a slingshot pellet. People loved prefabricated things. Prefab became less fab as people wanted to express their individuality or some such nonsense.
Maybe retro is back in style or maybe deep down we like the inherent equality that prefabricated things imply. Maybe it's just cheaper and people just want a house, and they don't want to go through tons of trouble customizing their own homes and meeting with that smarmy architect with the aftershave that smells like medical sanitizer who always shows up to the meetings ten minutes late all sweaty. Maybe.
In any case, there is a new breed of prefabricated home on the market, and these homes are ecologically friendly. You can also have these prefabricated homes custom built, which, again, is probably a paradox.
These eco-friendly prefab homes start at about eighty thousand dollars, and the sky is the limit from there. They can come loaded with almost any commonplace eco-friendly addition that you can find on Renovation Nation, but no matter what they come with, you can be sure that they will be well-insulated and sustainable.
Let's face it. The housing market is in shambles. Old houses are drafty and cost a lot to green up. A prefab eco-home might be the perfect solution to your personal housing shortage. It comes pre-greened. All you have to do is live there.
