Okay, if you're not familiar with StumbleUpon, that headline probably didn't make much sense. SU is a new(ish) social media site that randomly sends users stumbling around to sorta random websites based on pre-selected preferences. It's a novel way to experience the web/a black hole that consumes any scrap of free time you might have.
If you're already a StumbleUpon user, then you might have already seen the company's cool green promotion for earth day—Thumbs Up For Trees. If you haven't yet, click on over to that link, give it a thumbs up, and there you go. StumbleUpon will donate money to Friends of the Forest to plant a tree, all thanks to your click.
And if you're not a member yet, this is a fine opportunity to start poking around with SU—it's not for everybody, but it's an enjoyable way to kill an hour and discover the less-traveled corners of the web. (It's also a fine way to get great, unique and sometimes very strange green news).
So far Thumbs for Trees has already racked up an impressive 92,520 trees planted—and the number grows with every refresh I click. Get on over there and help out Friends of the Forest—it only takes a click.
To become a member it takes but a second—log on to StumbleUpon.
