There's email, and there's snail mail. But a new service from Zumbox combines the two and lets you get your snail mail online, helping you cut way back on how much paper enters your home.

How Zumbox Works

According to Zumbox, it is the first all-digital online alternative to the traditional paper postal service, and if you have a street address, you can already start using it. Every US street address has an online mailbox with Zumbox. Businesses, retail stores, banks, non-profits, your mom and anyone else who sends you mail through the postal service now has the opportunity to sign up with Zumbox and send that mail electronically—taking the paper right out of postal services.

Zumbox Is Not e-Mail

Zumbox is different from email because it is based on your home address. Anyone who knows your home address can send you mail through Zumbox. Businesses currently have a hard time going paperless because it is difficult to securely send information to email addresses, and email addresses are difficult to verify. However, with Zumbox, your mailing address is the address to where digital mail is sent.

With the postal service already looking at cutting down delivery days, and everyone wanting to cut down on paper use, Zumbox offers a great alternative to the USPS. Zumbox is putting parameters in place to squash any potential for junk mail, and marketers and advertisers are the only clients being charged for the service, which will also help cut down on junk mail and promote use by other organizations.
