According to Treehugger.com, a carbon footprint is "the total amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases emitted over the full life cycle of a product or service." Everything - and everyone - has a carbon footprint. Your computer, your canine companion, your commute, and yes, even you. Unlike the footprints we leave behind on freshly fallen snow or a secluded beach, a carbon footprint is far from harmless.
There are a few methods by which one's carbon footprint can be calculated... but thankfully, there are far more ways to reduce one's footprint - with or without undertaking major lifestyle changes. From lowering our thermostats to driving a hybrid to going vegetarian, each of us can be kinder to Mother Earth. Once you get started, you just might find yourself questioning and analyzing just about everything you do.
