E-cards get a jazzed-up makeover at Smilebox, an online service that lets you add photos, video, music, and other personalizations to e-cards, slide shows, photo books, and digital scrapbooks. You get to choose from hundreds of templates, work your artistic mojo, and then e-mail your design or post it on your blog. (Look ma, no trees!)

The basic version of Smilebox is free, but comes with ads. Pony up $1.99 to purchase a premium design you can send without ads, or sign up for Club Smilebox for $4.99 per month (or $39.99 per year) to unlock all premium designs. ::Smilebox
