Television has gone high definition. That means, we all have to buy high-definition converter boxes for our old sets. We may also have to purchase new high-definition antennae in order to get reception. Thanks, rapidly upgrading technology. This is just what we needed. None of us can use another expense right now.

This is where old-fashioned ingenuity, pluck and a strong DIY spirit come in handy. An innovator named Babblin5 uploaded a Youtube video that explains how to construct an antenna for a high-def TV. The antenna is reported to work better than store-bought models and can pick up rare and unusual channels.

I am really impressed by the inventor of this television antenna. Technology is advancing so fast and electronics companies create new-fangled devices that seemingly go obsolete overnight. But this device is made from the simplest of materials and is superior to the mass-produced models that were probably shipped from overseas and swaddled in clamshell packaging. You can build the antenna from old coat hangers found in your closet or at any thrift store and salvaged lumber. The only problem is that it looks somewhat unattractive. But it can be easily hid behind the entertainment center.

To learn how to make the antenna check out the video.
