Season 2 http://planetgreen.discovery.com/tv/wasted/annabelle-wasted-season.html This year on Wa$ted! we gave ourselves new challenges and asked the households we worked up to, as Emeril says, "kick it up a notch." I think it's very much a sign of the tough economic times that everyone we worked with was really interested in implementing strategies that were both eco-friendly and money saving, and our contributors took us up on more challenges than last season. For any of you hold outs on the CFLs one more excuse just bit the dust. Yesterday Home Depot announced they will offer recycling of CFLs at their stores starting Tuesday July 1st, so if the idea of CFLs was daunting because of the hassle of finding a hazardous waste disposal in your area, this is one issue that you can check off of your list. First of all, it's a very exciting time in the Green Product world, numerous companies are pushing for more transparency in labeling so that in the future when you see the labels "all natural ingredients" or eco-friendly on cleaning products- this will actually have some standardization. Frankly, I find it confusing, but Treehugger has been a good source of info on what the best products are. For many people, having an apartment composter won't seem like a practical solution. When I lived in NYC, I lived in an apartment so small that you could lie in bed, answer the door, fry and egg all at the same time, so that wouldn't have worked for me. However, James and DEan really wanted to compost at home, although we did give them a choice, right down the street from James and Dean is a community garden which accepts compost, so if this is something you want to explore, check out your local resources, help may be avail, and if there isn't one, this is a great community builder too.
