Wa$ted shows you how to compost the leftovers, your spouse or roommate is busy shopping for energy-efficient appliances, and the kids are recycling like champs. Now it's time to get your fido or feline in on the action. Why not? Your pet is part of your family, right? Here’s a list of action you can take in order to make your relationships with pets as green as possible:
- ADOPT FROM A SHELTER . Pet breeders are notorious for treating their pets more like things than live animals. Why support this kind of behavior when there are thousands of animals waiting to be adopted at shelters?
- PREVENT OFFSPRING. Sure, sure... puppies and kittens are cute and all BUT there are tons of animals already out there looking for homes and there's no reason to contribute to this growing number. Spay or neuter your pet and help fix this problem.
- KEEP YOUR PET ON A LEASH. Ever heard of a dog drinking a toxic fluid? Or a cat killing a helpless bird? Protect your pet from the hazars outside of your property and watch by keeping your pet on a leash at all times when ouside of the house.
- THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU FEED YOUR PET. Pets really get the short end of the stick when it comes down to their food. They eat the meat that is considered unfit for humans... the waste from the processing plants. Do you really want your pet eating this? There are organic alternatives for pet food-buy those!
