Dads like tools. You may be thinking of getting your father a tool set for Father’s Day. Today, most tools are made cheaply overseas and don’t often last for more than a few years. So if you want to get Dad a set of tools that will last him the rest of his life, you should get him a set of Lie-Neilsen tools.

Lie-Nielsen is based in Maine, and they make hand-crafted, heirloom-quality hand tools. The tools aren’t cheap, but your father will get something that he will own for the rest of his life. Plus, these tools can be passed down from father to son or father to daughter for generations.

Artisan-quality tools are a pleasure to hold, a pleasure to look at and a pleasure to use. They are meant to be used every day, decade in and decade out. They are green because of their inherent longevity and because they are made in the United States and don’t have to be shipped overseas.

Let me give you a little background on Thomas Lie-Neilsen. Thomas Lie Neilsen's father was a boat builder of note in Maine. The elder Lie-Nielsen built finely made custom boats and crafted boats for top yacht designers. Thomas, instead of becoming a boat builder, decided to build tools and do something that no one else was doing, manufacturing tools in the United States.

If you are looking to buy your father a set of tools for Father's Day, Lie-Neilsen is a great brand. However, the most important thing to look for is quality. You want to ensure that anything you buy works well and will be around for a long time.
