Babies and little ones light up our lives, but, baby, they grow fast. And as they grow, those cute onesies, cribs, toys and the like are outgrown and what seems like a breakneck pace. It adds up to lots of stuff, and its easy to get overwhelmed by the flood of no-longer-useful baby stuff. Enter Freepeats, which, if BabyPlays is the "Netflix for the toddler set", is the Freecycle for ankle biters. The site hosts an online community that helps parents trade gently-used baby, kid, and maternity items like clothing, high chairs, bouncers, swings, bikes, and toys, all for free, from other local parents who have finished with them. Got stuff? Give it away! Need stuff? Go find it! It's as easy as that.

So far, Freepeats is active in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Philly, and Washington D.C. Over the next year, the organization that runs the handy swapping service (called Baby Cheapskate) expects to open online local boards for at least 30 other U.S. cities. If you join up and become a member during the free enrollment period, which is usually during the first month of your city's launch, your lifetime membership is free. Otherwise, a modest, one-time fee of $4.95 gets you in.

New York, Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Detroit are next on the list, going online March 1. After that, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Indianapolis, and Nashville will get rolling. Sign up for notification for when they come to your city at ::Freepeats.org
