From throwing her own eco-friendly baby shower to running her tour buses on biodiesel fuel, musician Sheryl Crow has made her passion for the environment as much of a priority as she's made her songwriting. That's why the U.S. Green Building Council enlisted her as the opening act for the 2009 Greenbuild Conference, which runs November 11-13 in Phoenix, Arizona.

While the rest of the lineup for the opening ceremonies hasn't been announced yet--past keynote speakers include Bill Clinton and Desmond Tutu--Crow is slated to perform on the conference's first night, at Phoenix's Chase Field. "Performing at Greenbuild is like being on the international stage of the green movement, celebrating with you the progress we're making on this important issue," Crow says.

With more than 25,000 guests each year, the Greenbuild International Conference & Expo brings together 1,900 vendors and educators who offer lectures, breakout sessions, LEED workshops, and visits to green building sites in the local area. Last year, even Renovation Nation's own Steve Thomas pitched in to lend his own expertise to the gathering.

And if you aren't an internationally-famous, nine-time Grammy winner like Crow, you can still follow some of her green leads: Do your part to stop global warming, green your baby celebrations--and your kids' lives--and clothe yourself with eco-friendly fabrics. Or focus on your home with the building techniques, renovation ideas, and energy-saving tips you'll get at Greenbuild.
