When asked the question, "If you could run back into your burning house to save one item, what would it be?" No one has ever said, "my cupboard doors." Probably because they'd perish in the fire trying to remove them. In fact, most people don't take their cupboard doors when they move. That means that cupboard doors are ripe for the plucking.
These are the tools that you will need.
- Hammer
- Punch
- Screwdriver
- Mask
- Wire Brush
How to Reclaim Cupboard Door:
- I am using my cupboard doors as a model. So if your cupboard doors are different than mine, I apologize. I would have loved to remove your cupboard doors, although I guarantee it would be awkward for both of us.
- My cupboards hinges are caked with paint. Put on the mask. Use the hammer and the punch to chip away some of that paint.
- Use the wire brush and really try to get the paint off those hinges and that pin.
- Now that the paint is gone, hold the punch to the bottom of the pin.
- Knock the pin out with the hammer and punch.
- Repeat for other hinges.
- Remove the hinges that are attached to cupboards with screwdriver.
- You now have a cupboard door. You can make a serving tray out of it.
- Make sure to clean up all the paint flakes. If the house is an old one, that paint may be toxic lead paint.
