Donate towels to animal shelters

Unknown.

Animal shelters are always in need of gently used towels and blankets, whether it's to use as bedding or for bathing shelter animals. Plus, collecting towels and blankets helps your local shelter offset some of the cost of looking after homeless cats and dogs by shaving off some of its expenses.

Find shelters in your city or town by entering your zip code at the ASPCA's Web site. Many animal shelters have wish lists of items they need, so if they can't use some extra bedding, they may need something else, such as shredded newspaper for their puppy pens. Then, put the word out to your neighbors, co-workers, relatives, and friends-or turn it into an event, complete with publicity materials, by assigning a date and time you'll be stationed outside a school, church, community center, or other location with collection boxes for donations. ::ASPCA
