Mother's Day is upon us, folks! That is the one day of the year I am not doin' nothin' but being the Quen Bee. You won't find me dollin' out the feed, but instead, I' m assured breakfast in bed. But besides my kids' wonderful homemade cards, or, if they forgot, made-up-on-the-spot poems, I love (and expect--hint hint) fresh flowers.

For years I was overjoyed with quick-to-wilt dandelions, and later, when we had the time and inclination to be growing our own, I was the lucky recipient of a more sophisticated mix, locally grown (a.k.a. from our own backyard).

Today however, with looming writers deadlines for me and less-than-highly-motivated-to-pull-weeds tweens and teens in the house, I am looking for an alternative source for my flora addiction. Here it is, and lucky for us all, it comes with a very meaningful plus: Choose organic flowers for Mother's Day and the Organic Center will get 10 percent of the proceeds.

Think you're confused about the value and meaning of organic? (And honestly, who isn't considering the huge bucks Big Agribusiness is throwing out there to accomplish just that.) Well, the Organic Center was set up to give us the latest scientific reasons why organic is better. Check out this informative and highly entertaining vid narrated by the Discovery Channel's own charming Sara Snow (and by the way, she's more than smart, pretty, and peppy--she's born green, and got the cred, and her parents started Edun Foods).

Please watch it, the kids at the end are hilarious, but also show us we got along way to go. Oh, and in case my husband or kids happen to be reading, I love the Crown Majesty for $49.95. (Come on, it's one day a year, I can go back to serfdom on Monday.)
