Those things that go bump in the night are often my shins whacking into some stray piece of furniture (or even one that's always been there, but seems so utterly out-of-place at 2 in the morning.) If you're not a parent, you either have no idea what I am talking about, or have only staggered the dark of your abode when you've enjoyed--or perhaps over-enjoyed--some lively imbibing with friends. But as any ma or pa will corroborate, the late night sojourns to comfort teary little eyes do not evaporate when baby weans. Nope, the nighttime needs just take on a different form. And often some very, very strange and scary forms indeed.

My daughter--I've promised not to mention which one by name here--has been visited by every conceivable form of ghost, goblin and monster. (Could it be the huge two-week long celebrations leading up to Halloween in my town? The sister town next door is called Sleepy Hollow, so this is practically Ghost Central!) Whatever the case, it's my job--and my pleasure--to banish the banshees and get everyone back to the Land of Nod. Well, my task just got a whole heap easier.... Now there's a product, all natural and benign, that zaps those monsters and scares them so much, they might not ever come back. It's the Monster Spray from Seaside Naturals ($7.99 for 4 ounces). Though you may be thinking that this is one of those "unnecessary" purchases that we talk about about when we encourage consumers to buy less, if you've ever had a little who knows these monsters well, you'd beg to differ.

DIY-types can also make their own. Check out this uber-easy recipe.

Either way, they're all-natural and really smell great! And most importantly, they get rid of monsters. And that's what I call a good night's sleep!
