If you have leftover tiles from your last bathroom- or kitchen remodeling project, consider turning them into a tidy, easy-to-clean place mat to brighten up your pet's breakfast nook.

Plant your design on a piece of scrap plywood by writing your pet's name or nickname in pencil. Set aside dark or black tiles to spell out your pet's name, and lighter tiles to surround the area. Following the safety guidelines on the tile-adhesive packaging, use your trowel to place tiles neatly onto the adhesive-coated area.

When your plywood is completely covered, allow the tiles to set overnight, before spreading grout over the tiles. Tip: Slap on some rubber bumpers to the bottom corners of the plywood to elevate the mat and prevent it from scratching your floors. ::Animal Planet
