Clotheslines.
That's right, use clotheslines instead of your dryer, and you'll cut your residential energy costs by 5 percent. That's nothing to sneeze at—it can add up to savings of over a hundred bucks a year.
And all you need to do is make a one-time purchase of that simple, beautiful, much-neglected line of rope—the clothesline. Yes, they're still available (they're not that antiquated) and sold at department stores—even Amazon sells clotheslines. And each one costs around ten bucks.
Using a clothesline could contribute to big energy savings—if everyone opted for the clothesline, and we saved 5 percent of residential energy across nation it'd be a pretty stunning (and really green) achievement.
