If your apartment is anything like mine, then it can get a little stuffy in there, a little musty. A little dusty. We don't all have the luxury of having a well ventilated, efficient building to call our home. No, sometimes we get stuck with a bottom-floor room with only two windows. In which case, it's time we take matters into our own hands—and grow some fresh air.

This really isn't hard to do—just get one of the best air-filtering plants (these are Nasa's picks) and plant it. Not exactly rocket science (NASA pun. Nice.).

But there's more—according to GreenSpaces, these three plants will actually lead to an increase in your productivity, too: the Areca Palm, the Mother-in-Law's-Tongue, and the Money Plant.

Increased productivity? Simply from having plants in your home, and growing your own fresh air? Indeed, GreenSpaces' study found that:

The incidence of eye irritation reduced by 52%, lower respiratory symptoms by 34%, headaches by 24%, upper respiratory symptoms by 20%, lung impairment by 10-12% and Asthma by 9%.

All that adds up to an average increase of general productivity of 25%—and all from sticking these plants in your home. Easy.

The study also found that the plants have a 42% chance of raising your blood oxygen a full 1%.

And as if all that wasn't enough, growing fresh air can help detox your home, too. Looks like it's time to go plant shopping. Get more info on the different plants at the GreenSpaces tutorial on How to Grow Your Own Fresh Air.
