If you're feeling green about being green, don't worry about becoming an expert in a day. It takes time to change old habits and learn all the ways you can conserve energy and natural resources. The good news is that with the increase in eco-conscious people worldwide, innovations in green living are bountiful. The challenge is, of course, keeping up with it all. A simple way to start is by remembering there is P.O.W.E.R. in being green. This acronym will remind you that even small changes to your daily activities can have powerful environmental effects!
P – Plant trees and other vegetation to help consume carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Even if you live in a small apartment, having house plants can improve your quality of life.
O – Only use what you need.Turn of lights and faucets when you're not using them.
W – Walk more! If you prefer biking or skating that's okay too. These forms of transportation help reduce car emissions that pollute the air.
E – Eliminate the use of products and materials which create unnecessary waste. Look for environmentally friendly alternatives.
R – Recycle! Take the time to separate recyclables from garbage. The few extra minutes you spend will keep pounds of discarded materials out of landfills.
