This is one in a series of tips from the book Go Green, Live Rich, by David Bach, which shows how reducing your footprint can increase your wealth. Read a review of the book on TreeHugger, where Bach is also a guest contributor.

David Bach tells us that Americans spend over $134 on fast food, which is often neither cheap or healthy. A quarter of all litter comes from takeout food packaging, and it creates 1.8 million tons of trash each year in the USA. Not only that, making your own will save you $ 2,250 per year.

Food contributor Kelly has noted on Planet Green that "There is no question that taking your lunch to work every day takes some planning, but once you get used to it, you won't find it hard."
