If you think that DIY projects are pretty much limited to kids' crafts?like macaroni necklaces and painted rocks—and homeowners' to-do lists (think installing that patio or fixing the plumbing), then this weekend's Maker Faire in California has a thing or two to teach you. Now in its third year, Maker Faire—run by the people who bring you MAKE magazine?pulls together DIY enthusiasts who leave their mark on everything from fabric crafts to electronics and food to music. Check out demonstrations on robotics, molding, knitting, screen printing, book making, embroidery, marshmallow making, paper airplanes, and the world's largest Mousetrap game—and that's all before noon on Saturday.

The show runs Saturday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the San Mateo Event Center in San Mateo, California. Adult tickets are $20/day in advance and $25/day at the door; see Maker Faire for more details and the full schedule of events.
