Just because something is within financial reach doesn't mean you should immediately run out and snag it, says Xin Lu at Wisebread, just as this writer was dangerously close to being seduced by the new low price on the iPod Shuffle. She recommends asking yourself the following three questions while considering a potential purchase, even if you can afford it:
1. Do I really need to buy this?
2. Does this purchase improve my life in a significant manner?
3. Is this item worth my money?
If you're honest with yourself, says Lu, you're likely to find yourself avoiding many frivolous purchases. If you were wondering, my answers, in no particular order, were no, no, and no. Bummer.
How do you talk yourself out of buying something you know you don't need? Let us know in the comments below. ::Wise Bread
