I wouldn’t kill a fly. But that’s me. Heck, I’ve even diverted my cat from swatting spiders, ants and other insect visitors in my apartment.
But for those of you who get bugged out by bugs and particularly the fly variety—there’s at least a more sustainable and planet-sensitive solution to pest control.
It’s a DIY fly strip that’s chemical and synthetic-free. This way you won’t have to worry about little Susie or Fido getting their paws (or jaws) into something toxic.
DIY Fly Strip
- Grab ¼ cup maple syrup, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon granulated sugar from your cupboard
- Mix together in a small bowl
- Cut strips of brown paper (shopping bags should work)
- Pour the mixture over the brown paper and let the strips soak overnight
- Once they’re dry, poke a hole in one end of each strip and then use some old string to tie through it
