Measuring your ecological footprint --that is, how much of the earth's resources your lifestyle typically uses -- is a great first step toward making some green changes in your life. It's handy to know what you should be changing before making any changes, right? With that in mind, Redefining Progress has updated their ecological footprint calculator (it was one of the originals, back in the good old days) to make it more complete and easier to use.

We've already mentioned using Earth Day Network's calculator to figure out whether or not you have a relatively small (or big) ecological footprint, but variety is the spice of life, and its important to consider as many factors as possible when calculating something as big as your entire ecological footprint. Between the two, we think you can get a pretty accurate idea about where you stand, both literally and figuratively, when it comes to the size of your ecological footprint.

Get more details on the function and importance of ecological footprints at TreeHugger, and get calculating at ::MyFootprint.org.
