Your Old Cutting Board = Perfect Country-esque Wall Art

When it's time to get a new cutting board, get artistic with your old one.

Like most things we use on a regular basis in the kitchen, wear and tear can kill a cutting board. I just got home from a trip to Germany and found that my prized cutting board had sort of exploded while I was away. My roommates and I are guessing the giant crack that came out of nowhere is from water damage, but that's beside the point. Cutting boards get damaged and eventually they have to be replaced. If you have a wooden cutting board that has seen its last day, consider turning it into art for your wall (especially your kitchen wall) before burying it in a landfill.

How to turn your old cutting board into wall art with a country feel:

1. Locate your no-longer-good cutting board.

2. Decorate the cutting board.

To expand upon the country feel that the wood already sets the stage for, paint over the wood very lightly so that the wood is still exposed. Use eco-friendly glue to seal down buttons, rocks, or even dried flowers on the cutting board.

3. Hang the cutting board from your wall.

I was fortunate enough to have a cutting board that had a rubber seal around the edges that made it very easy to hang. If you don't have something like this on your cutting board, no worries! Hammering a long nail through the wood should be easy enough.

Enjoy! There's no reason we should be adding things to our landfills that could be art, right?
