Conserving water is something that every person should make a habit of doing. It can be hard, however, particularly if you're not the person who pays your water bill. However, conserving water is incredibly important. We don't always remember the tips we were taught when young about how to save water. So just to remind you of some things you can do that you may not have thought of already, check out this these tips:

  1. Do you leave the water running when you're washing dishes? If so, try turning it off during this time.

  2. Do you wait until your dishwasher and washing machine are full before running them? If you don't, try making sure you do this from now on.

  3. Do you leave the water running while waiting for the water to turn hot or cold? If so, try keeping a pitcher of water in your refrigerator instead for cold water and boil the water that comes out of the tap immediately in order to get hot water.

  4. Do you clean your sidewalks with a hose? Why? Try using a broom and a dustpan instead. They'll get the job done well and won't waste any water in the process.

  5. Do you take baths often? Try to cut down on your bathing time and take showers more frequently...they take up much less water.

  6. Do you know for sure whether or not your toilet has a leak? If you don't know, try placing food coloring in the tank of your toilet. If you have a leak, the dye will sink into the toilet bowl and you can save a lot of money by fixing the leak.

  7. Do you thaw your frozen food with hot water? If so, try thawing it by leaving it out in advance instead.

These are just a few tips. There are plenty of other areas in which you can cut back, too. Try to do your part with conserving water so we can have a healthier planet!
