We all know compost is great for enriching a garden’s soil bed, but did you know it provides a lovely liquid fertilizer, too?

That’s right. Right at home, not one step beyond your backyard, you can dilute some of your compost into a homebrewed, nutrient-dense tea to nourish, treat and fertilize your most prized plants. Mist the tea over leaves, roots, and flowers to give them a delicious and healthy treat that’ll keep leaves fungus-free and growing strong.

Compost Tea

  1. Find a five gallon bucket

  2. Fill it loosely, half-way with some of your compost

  3. Top off the rest of the bucket with water

  4. Keep the mix out of direct sunlight, stirring it once a day

  5. Wait one week and you should end up with a bucket of water that’s absorbed the nutrient-rich compost

  6. Strain it

  7. Dilute the mixture with a 1:10 ratio of pure H20

Then enjoy generously spritzing your blossoming blooms with your easy, free and chemical-free homebrewed fertilizer! Your garden will be grateful.
